My Bio:
Edye Campos was born on August 30th 1968 in Mexico City, Mexico to Jose Luis Campos, a pastor and Elena Adly Campos, a nurse and pastor’s daughter. After graduating from Atlantic Union College in 1993 with degrees in Sociology, Social Work, Theology and a Minor in Women’s Studies, he started his ministry as a Missionary in Bolivia, South America. In an unexpected twist, in 1996 God opened the door for Edye to have the opportunity to work as an actor in Hollywood. In a short time, he appeared in several commercials and TV shows. Then, in 1998 God called him back into ministry as a lay Pastor for Young Adults at Azure Hills Church in Grand Terrace, CA with Morris Venden as his Senior Pastor. The following year, Edye along with Pastor Michael Knecht, felt God call them to plant a church for Young Adults in the city of Redlands, CA. The church began with only 100 people in 1999, and within two years it grew to an 800-member church known today as “Crosswalk”. It was during the summer of 1998, that Edye along with several other young adults from La Sierra University, participated in a grass roots movement called “EXCITE 98”. This movement, which was aimed at challenging the SDA Denomination to focus on the growing needs of young people within our church, quickly became the catalyst for the newly born term “Young Adults”. A clear departure from the term youth, which until then, was defined as young people who were between the ages of 14-30 in the SDA church. This event was attended by more than 2,500 young people from all over the world. This historic event was unprecedented in our church’s history. The following year “CONNEXIONS 99” was launched as a follow up event. This time the event took place at the General Conference headquarters of Seventh-day Adventists in Silver Springs, MD. It was there that Edye, who at the time was still an actor in Hollywood, was sent by his church to attend this young adult gathering. While attending a presentation on Media Ministry, Edye met two other young adults who shared a common call to use media as a tool to minister to young people. Suddenly, God’s invitation for Edye to work as an actor in Hollywood made sense. And after a short and successful career in acting, Edye felt called to use his experience in Hollywood and filmmaking, as a means to reach young people for Christ. Hence, in 1999, Edye became one of the original founders of “PARABLE MAKER PRODUCTIONS,” a media ministry dedicated to producing media with the purpose of reaching young people. One of Parable Maker Production's most noted achievements was the first ever SDA commercial to air on MTV. In May of 2002, Parable Maker was featured as the cover story in the Adventist magazine "ADVENTIST REVIEW". Edye, through the media ministry he helped start has also helped make contributions in the area of Adventist music. He Co‐Produced the first and only SDA compilation CD of Christian Contemporary Music in 2000 called, "CATCH OF THE DAY”. This CD debuted at the 2000 GC Session in Toronto, Canada. It was in 2002, while visiting a Spanish church in Loma Linda, CA, while there Edye met and started to date a young female by the name of Erika Cruz. Later that year, God called Edye back into pastoral ministry to serve as a Youth Pastor for Laguna Niguel SDA Church. So, Edye gave up his media ministry and made the move to Laguna Niguel, CA. On July 4th of 2004, Edye made one of his smartest decisions ever. Edye proposed and married Erika Cruz, his best friend and girlfriend of two years. And in 2006, Edye was extended an incredible opportunity to be an Associate Television Producer for TRINITY BROADCAST NETWORK on a show called "VIRTUAL MEMORY”. The show was the first and only Christian Bible Game Show on television featuring young people as contestants. On New Year's Eve of 2007, Edye and his wife had their first child, a son named Nathan Alexander. In 2009, while working in Florida as a Chaplain for one of the largest Federal Correctional Facility in the United States, Edye and Erika were blessed with a second child, a daughter named Dulce Zophia. And in the year 2010, God once again enlarged Edye’s territory by extended him and his family a call to become the Senior Pastor of the Kansas City Central SDA Church in Missouri, where he pastored until 2013. Three years later, God called him to be the Pastor of the Gurnee SDA Church and Lighthouse Spanish Church, in the Illinois Conference. Then in 2016, he accepted a call to Hinsdale SDA Church where he served as the Pastor of Communications, Outreach and Young Adults. While in Illinois Edye was ordained and began his Masters in Pastoral Ministry. While his wife Erika completed her studies as a Respiratory Therapist. Due to the COVID19 pandemic in August of 2020, Edye stepped away from pastoral ministry in order to move to Florida and live near his elderly parents. Erika having completed her degree Edye accepted a new role working as the part-time Director of Communications & Media for Family Well-Being International, a support ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Then in 2021 both Edye and his wife Erika accepted a call to experience a new challenge in ministry working for AdventHealth where Erika at present works as a Respiratory Therapist and he is currently serving as a Chaplain.
